LAN Party!
January 25th, 2010Check out the Facebook event
Where: Kemper Hall Rm. 1131
When: Friday Jan 29, 2009 @ 6PM
The second LAN party of the year! (copy and paste rulez!)
Bring:
-gaming box, or laptop for you sissy’s out there who can’t lift their 50 lbs. towers.
-sleeping bag if you do not partake in caffeine binges.
-CAT5 cable long enough so that you don’t have to play musical chairs around the switch.
-Surge protectors so you can plug in all your gear.
-extension cord a plus, b/c you will be laughing when you are connected to the circuit on the other side of the room who’s circuit breaker isn’t tripping every time a new user plugs in.
-HEADPHONES! i don’t care how much bass your crappy speakers have, and neither does anyone else. Seriously though things start to sound terrible when there are 10 sets of speakers blaring.
-DO NOT bring alcohol, if any of the event coordinators see you with alcohol you will be asked to leave, non-compliance = call_cops(you);
There will be:
PS3:
-Rockband, Rockband 2
Wii:
//-Super Smash Brothers Brawl?
Pizza and other empty calorie foods.
The cake /*may or*/ may not be a lie.
24 port switch, and connectivity to the internet will be provided. If you really want to come and play WoW, I hear there is a town in Colorado called South Park with an avid WoW community. Go play there. ;-) But seriously come anyway maybe we can get you to play a LAN game or two in between raids.
We are going to try to keep the event free, but the CS club would like to offset the cost of food, with donations. So if you are coming and plan to eat please toss a few bucks to the coordinators. If you are just here for the gaming and you are going to bring your own stash of Bawls and Redbull’s then just come and frag.
Tentative Games List:
//commented out games that are unlikely to be played
Team Fortress 2
CounterStrike
Company of Heroes
//Quake Live
//Open Arena? same as quake live?
Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
Starcraft Broodwar
Other games are welcome! Please post on the wall what games you are most interested in playing and see if you can get people as stoked as you!
If enough interest for a game is generated before the LAN party. A tournament might be organized.
In fact, due to a recent shipping error we are now currently overstocked in WACKY WAVING INFLATABLE ARM FLAILING Company of Heroes steam players!
There will be a Company of Heroes tournament! b/c I said so.
There will be a prize! A Microsoft Sidewinder X5 Gaming Mouse for the winner of the 1 vs 1 tournament.
The 2 vs 2 tournament will require a team entrance fee of 2 dollars per team and the winning team wins all the entrance fees!
Once again if other players want to organize a tournament and furnish a prize you are welcome to!
Also please update your steam and steam games BEFORE you come!
More details to come…
